ParticipantHi Everyone,
I’m trying to get a wiring harness to the motor but I am having no luck with Connect or Homespares as nothing is shown for this model. Is there a generic harness to this range? I don’t seem to be able to find any wire harness listing for this model. I have seen some Hotpoint motor harnesses for the WM and WMA range but I am not sure how compatible it all is.

Hi, and welcome to the forums, moved you to Trade spares BTW. 😉
Not sure about that model number unless the R is for a factory reworked (graded) appliance.
The hard copy manuals for these machines never had the wiring harness in them and as these machines predate the Indesit takeover your chances of getting one are about the same as Liverpool qualifying for the next round of the Champions League.
There was a motor plug & wiring kit available but I think they are obsolete now.
Has it got the GDA or the FHP motor fitted.
Jim.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the welcome and speedy reply. The site is brilliant and very helpful so thank to you and your colleagues for providing it. No problem with the move to trade spares. It makes complete sense. I hadn’t got to that part of the forum yet! 😳
The motor is an FHP.

What is wrong with the original wiring, its only a short loom and if the connector blocks at both ends are Ok then it should be possible to repair it.
Someone might even have a spare motor plug and wiring, it used to come with the FHP motors when they were used to replace the GDA one but they stopped putting them in the box ages ago.

There is currently a spasmodic break in the tacho wire somewhere and I will repair if necessary but as the machine is on a suspended floor upstairs, the bouncing around has put strain on the wiring so I felt it better to change the loom if I could as I suspect there will be further problems later.
Many thanks for your help anyway.

The break is almost always at the motor plug end. you really need a pair of the special pliers supplied by Hotpoint ( still have mine ) , it makes fitting the wires into the plug a doddle.
I might even have a motor plug kit on the ‘van’ Volvo V50. 2.0D Powershift. 😀 😉 8)
If you really get stuck I will see what I can dig out.
You also need to check the tacho magnet, not unknown for them to come loose on the motor shaft.
Its a bit of a fiddle getting the tacho retaining plate out but I have done it on several occasions and refitted the tacho with a combination of loctite and the thin, white plumbers PVC tape.

Thanks for that Jim
The tacho is quite secure. The special pliers sound interesting. I may have come across a loom 😉 so i’ll see how I get on
Cheers
