    Hi folks,

I’m trying to sort out our Bosch SGV5303GB which has decided today to stop draining properly 😡

I can hear (what I think is) the drain motor going, but I’m left with water in the bottom of the machine. I have tried blowing backwards through the drain pipe and am unable to blow bubbles into the sump – does this mean that I have a blocked pipe or is there a one way valve in it?

If it is blocked what is the best way to clear it? The machine is built into the kitchen so it’s a pita to get it out – could I try blowing compressed air down the pipe and, if so, any recommendations as to which direction I blow it in?!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and (hopefully) reply!

Sink coupling, I presume? Check that first. If the drain hose simply falls away from the coupling it is quite possible that you have a fat blockage in the drain hose itself due to back flow from the sink.

If you are certain that the drain pump is running, there is unlikely to be a blockage in the pump chamber itself (You can check – remove the cover in the sump to reveal the impellor). I have had a few instances over the years of foreign bodies in the matrix – glass is particularly awkward to spot. Power off, left hand side panel off to observe.

Thanks for the advice, a quick blow through with the airline seems to have sorted everything. Cheers 😀
