Customer ordered a freezer door seal to fit themselves.
They fitted it yesterday only to wake up to a freezer full of ice :rolls:
I offered some soultions, hair dyer to soften seal and re shape 💡
In an abrupt and s**ty attitude his reactions were you sold me a duff part what are you going to do about it ❓
(in other words get your arse round to my house right now and fix it)My reply was in a professional way (as always):
1) You bring the part back in original packaging I will refund you in full.
2) I will order a replacement but will need to have the original back.
3) Pay for our service and we will see if it can be sorted out.He then commented and said not suprized that small businesses like us are failing.
😕What the *!!**k; what do these people expect from you, only supplied the frigging part.
😡I offered a soultion what more can one do ❗
What advice do many of you give customers on how to fit freezer seals, I know there is no info from manufactures in side on how to fit and store.
Most are packed in factory, stored in cold warehouse with a few hundred on top so bound to get squashed and out of shape.
But this one was packed very well.Comments please

I never instruct client on any fitting.
I spent many years learning a trade, I hate it when I go to my local trade counter and there selling brushes for motors and telling a client how to fit them. 😡
I supply parts to client, when they pick up I open box, show them the part and they agree its in tact and free from damage.
I then either had it over or if I suspect the client is hassle, usually there attitude, I photograph it.
If they can`t fit it and return it in a different condition, I`m covered I also have on my invoices and explaining that once fitted part is no longer returnable unless fitted by a suitably qualified person.

To pacify your seemingly aggrieved customer (client is far too posh a word I reckon – I leave that terminology to hairdressers and solicitors TBH) I would suggest your option No1 is the best solution in this instant.
Future customers be fully informed at the time of purchase that unless the goods are fitted by a “suitably qualified person” or returned in the packaging unopened, no refund will be given.
That will cover you too with the likes of your local Trading Standards Office because beyond your stated ‘terms of business’ your customer would have to prove the goods you sold were faulty or unserviceable before they have a legal right to a full refund*.

* Now the legal beagles will be busy searching the Sale of Goods Act to prove me wrong on that point I shouldn’t wonder? 😉 Hey HO! 8)

Clients like that arn`t likely to return to you in future, would you want them too.
So you explain in a polite proffesional manner & if there still taking the pi88, tell them to go ans fcuk themselves. 😉

PAY ME to fit it.. = I WILL DO IT FOR YOU…….and get it to fit or i will get another one…..and thats what you pay the extra for….! :rolls:canufitit……

Had a call this evening 6.15pm, so you know there hassle.
I have a Kenwood range cooker, cooling fan don`t work, but we still using it, now the main fan oven not working, how much will it cost ?
I don`t know without looking at it (I know by a guess, but hey, why give them answers).
It`ll cost X amount to call and diagnose, gives you 30 minutes labour time, most jobs usually under X amount I say.
Oh, don`t you give free estimates ?

I no, but if you pay my fee I will.
What if you call and tell us the part, we can then buy it.
Yes we can fit it.

The price I quoted was our labour charge plus parts, so with no parts we charge the labour I quoted.
Hardly rocket science now is it.

Its becoming a joke.
And I bet (cant wait) for some numpty to get killed after following instructions from these people, even better if the house burns down.
With all the regulations we have to follow.

Exactly how our shop ran ( when i was employed ) and no problems occured really by using those methods. ( didnt take photos though ).

I don’t post on the public forums for this reason, I don’t want to be indirectly responsible for someones death.

I get them trade for £6.99, at least there expensive, but are they busy. 😯
