I have a Neff S54M45x5GB/01 Dishwasher. It is just over 2 years old ( out of warrenty) but has only been used about 50 times ( Still not used the original pack of 60 tablets purchased when we got it!) Only actually been fitted about 16 months as the kitchen was not ready.

The “check water supply” indicator is on and the dishwasher is making gurgling noises as if it is trying to empty with no water in. Sounds like it is drawing in air!

I have checked the filter in the water supply pipe and it is clear. I have also checked the water pressure to this control tap and it is OK.

If I pull out the machine and tilt it water comes out from underneath but I don’t know where from.

If I mop up the water in the base that appears to be activating the flood float the machine is ok again until when it starts filling water appears again until the float is activated.

I have taken off the side panals and cannot see where the water is coming from.

Where are the most likely places it will leak that are easily accessable?

Any ideas how I can overcome this problem?

    PLEASE!! 😥

Tricky – covers off and observation is the only way. It can overflow from the union of the fill matrix and the transfer pipe if it gets gunged up (Unlikely after 50 washes unless you have a manically high cholesterol diet). Salt chamber retaining nut (Not the cap, the collar under it) can cause some interesting leaks if it works loose. If the base is filling up quickly, you should be able to spot it. Drip, drip, drip leaks can be an absolute pain…..

Power off for anything other than observation.

” union of the fill matrix and transfer pipe”

Sorry, don’t understand that or where you are talking about.

    Can you explain please?

You will need to get the appliance out and take off the left hand side panel to observe…..

As I said in my first post I have taken off the panels and connot see any leaks!

I just do not understand the terminology that has been used.

What specific area am I being directed to?

There is no specific area…. you need to look very carefully for the leak.

We can’t see the machine, you can.

    Yes thanks!

But what is a fill matrix?

Also are there any common places where leaks happen apart from those already mentioned?

Superfix and I will be watching this thread with interest as in the case of these machines little can be regarded as easily accessible when it comes down to internal leaks.

I wouldn’t mind betting that the leak has been happening for a long time and just as it’s guarantee runs out it has now manifested itself. 🙁

It could be the main circulation pump seals? The Salt container gasket? Fill matrix ‘O’ rings? Water Heater water diverter valve? Etc Etc. All need careful investigative skills (techniques) in spotting the signs without having to take the machine to pieces. And unfortunately often means that stripping it down is the only way not only to locate the source of the leak but ultimately to fixing it. 🙁

My advice therefore is to call a local guy out to sort it for you, an expert in Neff dishwashers will sort it very easily and cheaply I shouldn’t wonder.

    Over to you…. 😀

    Thanks Martin

Unfortunately as I currently am not working I don’t want to get an engineer involved at this stage only to find that it is a major problem and I cannot afford to pay him!

Much better that I identify the problem if possible and either correct it myself if it is minor or contact an engineer when I have a better understanding of the costs involved.

If it is a major problem then we may just have to live without a dishwasher for a while!
