ParticipantAren’t pensioners the most fickle type of customer you can get? I’ve had pensioners that appeared to think the sun shone out of my ….. only to turn unreasonably nasty when things don’t go their way.
I had one who furnished me with coffee and biscuits on a tray (nice) and took several business cards as I unblocked her Hoover Turbo with a hair grip jammed in the bellows.
She phoned me back up 3 months later and said it was the same as before but hung up on me when I said it wasn’t under guarantee if it was another hair grip causing a blockage. She ranted on and nothing I could say would get through to her.
Over the years I’ve had several lovely old pensioners turn on me for no good reason.

Sort of……..
I called last month to an old customer who kept all my invoices over the years. The first was dated May 1973 to fix her Hoovermatic 3174 (It was 10 years old then!……Well, I couldn’t believe it when she told me her washing machine had stopped ‘turning’ last month. When I called, it was the same 3174 with a seized Pulsator. Unbelievably I had a Pulsator & housing on my van…..Sorted !!
The machine still functions, it is now 40 years old and the little old lady….a spritely 96 !!!

I’ll bet you still had the oversized Socket/tube, to fit the back nut on the housing, in your toolbox.
