Just been to a new style Bosch diswasher, about a year old, overfilling and flooding out the door!
It seems on these new cheap and nasty designs, hard to belive that they still have a “quality image” there is no traditional Bosch float switch or indeed a pressure switch or even a flow meter. Infact, it bafled me how they measured the water in until I found a ALEX reed switch underneath right near the filter moulding. get this, just ajacent to the filter inside the cavity is a removable ” plug” about 1.5cm round inside which is a magnet on a float which on reaching the correct level activates the said Alex reed switch. The big problem with this is, the customer can EASILY pull out this plug while cleaning the filter (some of them do this believe it or not) well this is what happenend to mine today. No wonder I was baffled as the float/magnet was hidden in a draw next to the dishwasher as the customer did not know what it was! result overfilling!
Something to watch out for in the future.

not nasty just new and cheaper to produce!
whether they’ll stand the test of time …?

the fill is timed and the reed switch is just used for calibration on the latest models. however the earliest models did use this reed switch to detect level on all parts of wash cycle – this being the case the pcb should be upgraded. should have checked the mushroom float (the safety level device) if the cut outs at the bottom are approx 7mm then needs replacing with new 2mm cut out version. some appliances require both pcb and mushroom replacing, others just mushroom, depending on model/age

So that is the manufacturer, yet again, fixing a poor initial design once the product is in the field and as usual either us, the insurer or the customer foots the bill to rectity their error. 😉

IMO, if they modify so many things the appliance was poor when it left the factory gates.
