ParticipantMy dishwasher has developed two faults:- Could be related?
1. Error lights flashing 2nd and 4th (normal wash and eco wash).
2. The door latch/catch has given up the ghost. It is not operating correctly, doesn’t latch in. Is it repairable or is it better to order a new one. Any tips on fitting? Thanks in advance.

Lights 2+ 4 are a heater related fault. Quite common on Indesit dishwashers. In most cases it will be either the heater itself or the control PCB.
The first thing to check is the heating element. A suitable megger or multimeter is required to check heater continuity, resistance and also insulation.
Mains plug out and access from underneath after removing base plate. Tip it on its back or left hand side looking from front, a few large towels on the floor is a good idea.
The heater is a ‘tube’ type element connected to the main circulation pump. The door latch is quite easy to change as long as you take great care when removing the console facia, the inner door edges are razor sharp.
A couple of different control PCB’s used, one a bit more expensive than the other. The full serial number is required to identify.
BTW, its a BFI620. 😉

Thanks for advise, will order new door latch and have a go at testing the element.
Cheers.

I think you are getting things in the wrong order, check the element first before you order anything.
It might turn out to be the PCB so you will need to find out which one you need, and cost of same. As it is accessed by removing the console facia as is the door latch you might as well make sure you don’t have to take it off twice.

Finally found time to investigate. I have found what I think to be the heating element as described. After disconnecting and checking across contacts I get around 26-30 ohms. Not sure if this is ok and points to pcb, if someone could advise I would be grateful?
Thanks in advance.November 22, 2009 at 3:56 pm #303817iadom

That reading is fine as long as the insulation reading is also OK then the PCB would be the next port of call.
We would need the full serial number to identify correct part.

Thanks. Insulation checks? Do you mean checking from the actual heater casing to earth? Sorry if this is obvious…

Well it is a little obvious. :rolls:
This is not meant to cause offence and without wishing to being rude, you shouldn’t really be sticking your hands inside an electrical appliance if you don’t know how to check for insulation faults.
The heaters on these machines often go down to earth, even a slight current leakage can cause all sorts of problems with the electronics.

None taken, have checked for earth faults and it seems to point to pcb. Serial number is 506062898 (of machine). Appreciate your help.

Part number of PCB is C00143206, sadly it is the more expensive one of the two used. 😥

Having trouble fitting newly arrived pcb. Leds line up and fit, however the programme button doesn’t line up and won’t press switch on the pcb?
When I refit the old pcb back it works fine every time? The prog button will work on the new pcb but only in a position that the screw holes don’t line up?!Can’t really see a difference in the pcbs, although there must be a slight difference. Have looked at the program button mechanism and it seems ok, however worryingly I have a small plastic section about 30mm in length which I’m not sure what it’s purpose is or where it goes? Could this be the missing link? looks a bit like |——-|.
Good news is that fault has cleared, but can’t use due to prog. button not working!
Any help would be appreciated.

You may have been sent the wrong PCB.
The P button was modified in production. The two different PCB’s are not interchangeable although it is quite possible that the Indesit Company have decided to supercede the earlier PCB which yours is for the later one without bothering to let anyone know that it will not fit the old machines.
The console panel changed at the same time as the PCB. later console panel is a C00195938..Later PCB is a C00143222.
Did you actually get a C00143206 or a C00143222.
The later console is around £18 if you have to go down that route.

I purchased a C00143206.
I’m going to have a go at swapping the pcb mounting bases to see if that makes any difference (from old to new).

That doesn’t mean you actually got one, wouldn’t be the first time the wrong part has been boxed up. 😉

Just to let you know how it went on, incase it helps anybody else…
It was the correct pcb. Ended up sloting the mounting holes slightly on the new pcb to allow the button to line up and work. It test ran ok, however ended up with a flooded base? Had not touched anything else? Found the bottom wash arm nut had come very loose allowing water into base. Tighten this up and then all ok…yippee no more washing dishes by hand. Thanks for all your help, merry Xmas 😀 . -
