Hi – I need to install a new thermostat in this Hotpoint RLA50 larder fridge. The old stat definitely not working – tested in freezer. The stat capilliary tube is pushed through a small hole behind the stat housing but it just winds its way around under the top cover of the fridge – no guide tube to guide it down the back of the fridge to the chiller plate. The fridge top looks as though it should come off but is firmly stuck down – won’t budge.
I’d really appreciate it if someone could provide the advice on how to get that tube into the right place.

Simply pull out thew tube /phial and after straightening the new one(it comes rolled up)feed it into the tube until it comes to a stop.Change connectors ,job done.

Hi Spimps, many thanks for responding so promptly.
I did what you said, but the capilliary is 1.3m long, has to go across the top of the fridge and then drop down the back to the concealed chiller plate. After I push in the first 50cm of the capilliary it seems to hit the back, bend sideways and curl back under the top cover of the fridge – you can hear it under the top. I was expecting there to be a guide tube for the capilliary, but that does not seem to be the case. In order to help the tube turn to drop down the back, it looks as though the top would have to be removed but it is firmly stuck down.
I replaced the stat in an earlier fridge – that was easy with the chiller plate being inside the fridge. But in this RLA50 the chiller is behind the rear wall.
It has me stumped. Any futher ideas?
    Cheers – Greenrhino.
