    Hi all,

I have a creda T630w dryer which is tripping the switch on the main hose switch, my first thoughts are that the capacitor had blown (visually it looks okay) but is there anything else I should look for?

WOW!!! whats going on with all these condensors all of a sudden!?! i know its wet…but hey!

first point of call is checking for signs of water in the base and then behind the heater cover – plug out to be safe before unscrewing anything!!!

also check for tripping with as little other electrical goods being run at the same time. and testing td in another socket, and testing another high wattage (3kw fastboil kettle for instance) appliance in the t/d socket!

This is not the later design that suffers from the ‘water on heater’ fault.

The water from the condensor on these drains directly into a container under the condensor so rarely gets sprayed over the heater unless the condensor is very badly blocked and by then the safety stat has normally tripped anyway.

You really need a megger or multimeter to check out all the components.
Sometimes the stats above the heating element will burn out and short to earth.

Cheers guys, found out the fault was in the cable even though there was no apparent damage, tried the the usual place at the plug, wasn’t that so just replaced whole cable
