You have to much voltage my friend.
The PCB is designed to error E if voltage exceeds 280v, board then shuts down only allowing the E in display.
If your getting E and a number such as E1, that indicates ELIN is rogered.
This is copied from BSH literate for E fault.
Check that the net connection is ok.This warning appears when the measured volta-ge on the power grids reaches 280 volts, and cases have occurred in which this warning appears at 250 volts).2. Check the voltage . The electric company can modify the supplied Voltage by+ – 7 {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.The failure disappears when the incorrect voltage is corrected.Disconnect the cooktop from the power grid.November 27, 2009 at 11:28 am #304979funkyboogy

No the protection is built into the electronics to prevent damage.
Measured voltage could be low when you check, sod`s law tends to sort that out.
You should be able to disconnect the appliance, wait and reconnect and should work.
If not you could have a faulty PCB, but you should have a fault code showing that being the case.
As you`ve stated you`ve replaced the PCB and still faulty, it would suggest the supply voltage is raising and your measurement didn`t pick it up.
This happened to me in a new build block of flats in the UK, it also happened several times in Spain.
Everytime it was found to be a supply voltage issue, the UK sorted it after a few phone calls and moaning, in Spain its probably still and issue for the clients. 😆

ParticipantYou’ve changed the display board with no change ? In all honesty , i don’t think i’ve ever changed a display board on one of these models , however……..I have changed a number ( and recently too ) of the LHS PC board – never the RHS.
The reason , i think anyway , is that the LHS board is the one that has the mains power coming in to it and feeds the display board. A component on this board fails and won’t give an error message but the hob won’t power up or you get 4 dashes that flash intermittently on the display.
PC board part number 666080 – approx £122 + VAT
