    Bosch WTS86516GB/03 condenser drier. FD8606.

The original fault was a blockage in the pump; defluffed and cleaned everything in that area and all seemed OK. Machine was also leaking but after the clean up I thought I’d cracked it.
It still leaks and there is steam ingress into the display. The customer has let it fluff up again but not as bad as last time. Pump works fine, but there is a leak of the condensating water at the bottom left corner. Cleaned everything again – still no better. 👿
I’m suspecting the front drum seal has failed as the customer said there was steam in the room while the drier was on. Trouble is, he’s the type of customer that wants an instant fix; but still can’t be bothered to clean his condenser to prevent problems.

    Any help on this please!!

    Steve.

    Re: Bosch condenser drier leaks.

Have you checked and cleaned the cooler, it the sliding out piece found on the front left side looking at the front behind the door.

If that is fluffed up, there usually missed by the client, it will cause too much moisture to build up in that left corner which leaks onto the floor.

Cleaned the condenser, the plastic moulding in front of it, the chamber the condenser goes into, the water receiver and the pump reservoir. Also cleaned all the seals and their mating surfaces. I took the side off the machine so I could do it thoroughly. When I called back, it was all dirty again of course – only went 2 weeks ago; lazy sods. The drum seal (made of a felt material) looks worn in the centre, that’s what made me suspect it was at fault, as I’ve tried everything else I could see. The display steaming up was a concern though.
Thanks Lee – but after reading the above, can you think of anything else?

    Cheers,

    Steve.

    Re: Bosch condenser drier leaks.

    Not really.

Maybe worth replacing the seal, but its more of a bearing really than a seal.

Check the rear seal, that tends to cause a leaking issue.

Check the hose coming from pump up is in the correct place.

Have you run a test program, it could be a temp issue or even the location of the appliance, its mentioned in there instructions about low ambient temperature and condensation build up.

How do you get it into a test program? That could be useful. Also, the ambient temperature issue could be relevant as the guy is ripping his house apart and renovating it ATM. I couldn’t say if he has any heating; he certainly has no kitchen or dining room……… :rolls: I did the whole clean up by the light of a 40W bulb in the hallway…..that gives you an idea of the chaos in this house.

    Thanks for the pointers,

    Cheers,

    Steve.

    Re: Bosch condenser drier leaks.

I’ve just about had it with this ***’kin drier. 😈 I’m normally a patient person but I have lost most of today to the stupid machine. I have systematically stripped and cleaned every part of it. Changed the front and rear drum seals, cleaned all the seals round the condenser…..everything.
First load – perfect. Second load was fine too. No leaks and the display was clear of mist; result!! 😀
Third load and the bloody thing started leaking at the front left side again. Not a lot, but a leak nonetheless. 😈 😈 😈

Has anyone got any clue as to why this is happening? I really have no idea where to go now apart from dumping it back at the customers house and taking the loss on the chin. :angry4: Bosch condenser driers – too labour intensive to be bothering with – never again!!
    Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi Steve , i can’t say i’ve seen this fault on these newish style tumble dryers . The only thing i can think of is does the customer use bounce sheets as i know these can block the filter ?

If condensation is forming in the display , have you checked the lamp cover ? I know the older versions used to suffer this prob if the lamp cover wasn’t fitted or missing .

Other than them 2 , i can’t think of anything else off te top of my head.
