KeymasterHi I wonder if you can help I have a whirlpool dishwasher which has a flashing green light on the start button according to the instruction manual it indicates a fault but very helpfully doesnt say what!
The only information I can give you is that when I start a program the drain motor starts running straightaway even though the dishwasher is empty and keeps running for a length of time then it shuts down and the start light flashes again.
Occainsully when I play with the start button the drain pump will stop running and it will suddenly start filling with water and working but only for about ten minutes then it shuts down and the start light flashes again
Is this a control panel problem or is it a sticking water inlet valve or somethingelse entirely?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
James

Most new type dishwashers encorporate an anti flood device in the very bottom of the machine to automatically pump out, the machine if it detects water in the base of the machine. Therefore it could mean that your appliance is leaking water into the base where the components are situated.
I would strongley advise that you call in an approved engineer if you are not an engineer yourself, as water and electricty can be a very dangerous mixture.Regards Del

A common problem is the pressure switch, followed by the temperature probe. If you watch the flashing light it should flash a number of times, pause, then repeat. The number of flashes translates to the fault found. Sorry, but I have to telephone technical for the translation.
If the anti flood device has been activated the machine won’t take water in at all. Only the drain pump will run.
Hope this helps.January 27, 2004 at 7:02 pm #108482DentedPorsche

If there is only 1 flash then it’s an NTC fault, two flashes is water inlet fault. Sorry, don’t have the rest of the codes.

Participant4 flashes is time out fault – last one I went to was no drain in the specified period. Holding dpown the start button usually zeroes everything ready to start again.

Thanks, Penguin 45. I had exactly the same prob but – following your advice – I held down the start button for about ten seconds and everything started up again.

Hiya,
7 flashes equates to error code F7. Flow meter failure. Flow meter defect. Water inlet valve defect or water inlet hose blocked.DP

I’ve got a whirlpool 4501/5, are the fault codes the same, I’ve had a 2 and then a 7 after I reset it. I removed the little gauze filter in the hose and so far it seems okay, I’m recall the instuctions sasying something about this 😳

I had a similar problem with my whirlpool dishwasher. I learned that pressing and holding the start button would reset the machine but then the same thing happened, the machine started up for a few seconds and then stopped with the start light flashing. It turned out to be a kinked outlet pipe so the water couldn’t get out. I taped the pipe in a long arc to the back of the machine, to remove the kink and then reset the machine. It worked again! Hope this helps others..
