Had a Bosch classix washing machine today model number not available as i write but the story is that machine was working fine until a major power cut, the machine was just into the spin cycle when the power went. Once the power was resumed all that happens is that all the lights Continually pulse when you switch the machine on but nothing else happens, the buttons will not select any cycles or options and I can see no
obvious damage to the pcb behind the facia.Is it possible that when the mains came back on that the power module became corrupted or blown by a surge or spike ? or is there a reset that can be done ?

i went to a classix two days ago, had a heating element down to Earth, somehow this had managed to blow one of the tracks on the PCB I repaired the failed track on PCB replaced the heater only to find when switched on the PCB lights pulse and no programe can be selected.
I was also wondering if this was in need of a reset… although I suspect the problem is bigger than that. Replacing the board is not really an option after seeing how they are priced!!!

looking at the schematic there are two PCB boards for this,the power module and the board with the buttons on. As I cannot select any programs i.e pressing the buttons has no effect I am not sure if I should qoute them for both boards as belt and braces. The power module is supplying the PCB with the buttons on beacuse that board is illuminated but I cannot see which board is the culprit !

The ENr of this model is WAE24162UK/08 Martin, as regards the cost the boards from Connect are roughly £ 58.00 for the Power module and £ 48.00 for the Other board with the selector buttons on it, so its still a viable repair for my customer I would say.

Though I wouldn’t trouble yourself over the programme board but rather the main power board needs a careful look at I reckon. You say you can’t spot any signs of damage on the power board do you? Not sure?
Incidentally the latest Power Module is in fact part no: 668781 and costs £52 direct from BSH.
Power surges/power failure usually manifest themselves into lifted tracks on P C boards. If the machine was ramping up into and around full spin at the time my guess is that those blown tracks or triacs will lead straight to the motor. Therefore a new power board will cure it and your customer should bill the electric company!
