KeymasterIt has been long mooted that I post under another name, well I don’t, end of story! It would be stupid for me to try to do so as my style of writing is far too well known and it would be clocked in no time at all so it would ultimately be utterly futile for me to do so.
I refer in particular to Rudolph since everyone and their dog, as well as certain WP or two plus a few others, are desperate to know who he is. Sorry Rudi, you’re a popular guy, what can I say. You’re acidic comment must have ruffled a few feathers and I bet that raises a chuckle or two from you. 😉
There have been other subtle and not-so-subtle requests to know who’s who on here and there’s only me that knows many of the account’s real identities and Dave knows some of them as well, but not all. Neither of us will divulge the details, ever, unless there is good cause to know and, since many of you will know that have asked to know who anyone is the answer is “sorry, we can’t tell you”.
So basically, if you want to know who Rudolph or anyone else is on the site don’t bother to ask because we won’t tell you as much for your own peace of mind and protection as everyone else’s.

Bravo Ken!
I applaud your comments on this subject and I would encourage ALL within the trade to join especially the likes of rudolph who has been a priceless contribution to our group so far, long may his input continue.
However like many fellow members, I too am curious why they should take that option? (They could obviously correct that by editing their ‘Profiles’ at any time in the future and I hope most will consider doing that) What have they got to hide?
I would love to know?
Check me out, I run a high profile business, nothing to hide, thrive on competition, up front all the way, I appeal to “A.N.OTHER” to let me know your reasons?

Absolutely nothing I doubt Martin, but that is their choice to remain anonymous, and that will always be honoured.
There is also, and it has been threatened by certain parties the threat of legal action for airing a personal opinion.
Trying to quash free speech in a democratic country in the 21st century, I ask you……. 🙁

Thanks for that. I must admit I am a bit flattered that my input is looked upon with such mixed emotions and from both sides of the fence.
As you rightly say, there’s only the chosen few that know who is who, and if it wasn’t for that, then myself as well as a few others would be more contained. I’m not party to know as to who goes under what name, this is borne out by me assuming someone was not who I thought it was. (Bernstein in the rumour mill). That was my fault for jumping to conclusions and poor research. The point is; I don’t want to know goes under what banner either, it would ruin the ethos of this whole thing.
It has been suggested that some of us should come clean and perhaps put our money where our mouths are. Not so easy I’m afraid.
I admit, when someone writes to the press under a pseudonym; I tend not to read it too seriously; as I feel they are hiding an identity and cannot be taken serious. As much as I’d like to, I cannot divulge who I am. Believe you me, I’d love to, but it would cause a lot of dilution in my postings. I don’t put myself as being significant, but I’m am well known in the industry and the ripples would cause problems to more people than you could imagine, and the effects would be outside of the White-goods site.
I used to have my e-mail address in profiles, but recently I had to remove it as there were threats coming my way. Some organisations are keen to “Make his or her solicitors richer†by slapping an injunction upon me. That would actually have an adverse effect that they are blissfully unaware of, I won’t go into the reasons etc.
If you look at my postings, all I’m doing is laying out what is really happening to our industry, and most of my venom is against one particular offender. What I’m doing is simply drawing everyone’s attention to things that are going on, and most of you already are aware of these injustices anyway.
As long as I remain anonymous, then I can keep on plugging and keep the issues in high profile. If I do get rumbled, I’ll only come back under another name.

A lot of people have to hide Martin for fear of retribution from a WP or manufacturer as it appears that some of them do not like any form of critisism levelled at them. For example I was kicked out of a certain network last year just because I made some comments and others have been threatened, some got it worse than I did. The reasons given are always the same old diatribe along the lines of; but if our customers/clients/distributors/retailers see this then the may use (or buy) another provider (or product).
Of course taking the points of unrest and using them constuctively seems to be an idea alien to many who have long been used to being able to demand and recieve from agents, ruling their network with an iron fist. Then there are those that wrap the iron fist in a velvet glove. 😉
The point being that, due to the level of communication that we all now enjoy, these tactics will no longer yeild the results that they perhaps once did and that means change, many people do not want or like change in their little corner of the industry.
To that end, many a WP or manufacturer will simply carry out a witch hunt and discover the perpetrators and the most vocal people and dispose of them as they see fit and this has happened in the past. Hence some people see the need to hide their identity and remain anonymous wich I cannot blame them for. Many readers of this site (in particular the trade sections) are too scared to post even under an assumed identity, which is a very sad situation indeed, but it is the reality of it.
