    Anyone got any ideas why my oven would only work if I slam the door
    too?
    Its a hotpoint BU52 and I replaced the element last week and now if I am too gentle when I close the oven door it just doesnt work.

    Any thoughts on what could cause this?

    I cannot find a BU52 however there may be a switch on the frame where the door closes and this will need replacing.

    In that case there WILL be a switch on the oven frame that needs replacing.

    Power off if you are going to tackle this yourself.
