Symptoms: A deep rumbling noise from the machine as the drum reverses direction and more mechanical noise than usual during operation.
Moving the drum by hand produces a heavy rattling sound after a couple of inches of movement for a couple of seconds then it sounds normal until the drum is stopped when it’ll rattle again.
Not sure if this is likely to be a bearing or a problem with the drive belt? I’ll take the back off tomorrow(after unplugging!) to see if I can see anything obvious, I’ve already repaired the thermostat on this a couple of years ago so I’m reasonably competant at DIY. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Just had the back off and as you suggested the bottom fan is slipping on the spindle. I presume this is just wear on the plastic that has made it loose as I can see no damage. I’ll order a new one although in the meantime I’m tempted to bodge a repair by wrapping the spindle in something to stop it slipping! My only concern in doing that would be that the temperature is quite high in that compartment so it would have to be heatproof!
