ParticipantIf the door is not latched shut it will not stay in the vertical position but falls open. I understand there are two springs that control this, I have found them as spare parts but is there anything else I need to buy with them? Read about a “belt” fitting on one spring?
Thanks.December 19, 2009 at 9:18 am #306312kwatt

Sorry if this reply is a bit late but…
There are two versions of that dishwasher, so I’d need the serial number to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure but I reckon they will be pretty much the same.
There are the springs, which are probably okay, tow hinge straps or brake bands and, what looks like, two plastic runners that those brake bands sit in. It’s probably the bands and/or plastic blocks that are gone as that’s the usual problem with these sort of dishwashers, very common fault on some integrated machines.
If you need the bands and blocks just let me know the serial number so I can be absolutely sure I direct you to the correct part.

Hi,
Sorry I would have gotten to this sooner but Christmas shopping got in the way. :rolls:
Anyway, what you should see is something like this for the door hinge assembly…

As you can see the spring is attached to a brake band although Candy call it a “clutching band” (799) that runs around the plastic (I assume) guide (798) and the far end of that from the spring is attached to a hook (797) which in turn fastens to the actual hinge itself.
I am not familiar enough with this particular machine to comment but, on many others that use the same sort of system, it’s usually the bands that break, not the hinge or spring. But on this one that hook looks flimsy as well. However I’d suspect the brake band of snapping long before anything else as it’s just a thin strip of metal and is a commonly requested part, it’s now on the shop and available from this link.
I’d bet that was the problem. 😉
