    Hi,
Been reading this thread with interest. I have had an error code on my dishwasher. Found the door and bottom thermostat to be faulty.
Bought new parts from MFI and fitted them. Noticed that the bottom thermo that goes thru rubber gromit is marked differently underneath ie. 2 yellow dots instead of 2 yellow, 2 white. Tried wiring it up the same and changing them around but am still getting fault code e3 after 40 minutes of operation.
Could it be i have to reset something maybe? is the pcb you are talking about the control panel?
I dont want to call out the engineer just yet at £68.50 call out charge incase it is something real easy. Have had the element checked and thats ok. Still getting same code which means machine cannot heat washing water correctly.

I am about ready to get a hammer out!!!

A frustrated sore hands damsel in distress.

Any offer of advice and help most grateful

    Lolly. 😉 😉

    Hi Lolly,

    E3 means no heat.

More often than not on this machine either the thermostat has tripped out on overheat as a result of cutlery or something on the heater touching the thermostat or the heater itself that’s faulty. You can check the heater visually as often they will “pop” at some point or with a multimeter simply check for continuity.

MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING

If you don’t know what I’m talking about you may be best advised to get an engineer out.

    Hope that helps.

    Re: ADP 8224 Dishwasher

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, i know the thermostats had both gone and have replaced both.
But when i try and use the appliance again it gives me the same alarm code. Is there something i have to press either on the control panel to perhaps reset?

An engineer checked the control panel and said it was ok and that the heat exchanger thingy was ok. He tested the bottom thermostat (already replaced door therm as that had blown also) and said he could only get a reading off of one side. He said to buy the thermostat and told me how to wire it in, but am still getting same code. Makes me think it is something really stupid that somebody might know what i have donw wrong.

It lookes like the new thermostat could be wired up differently as the colours next to the tags are different (everything else looks exactly the same) The new one just has two yellow dots nets to 2 of the lugs and nothing on the other two.The old one has 2 yellow dots 2 white dots.
Therefore, it was wired Loop white to yellow, blue/white to white, red/blue wire to yellow and the other white to white.
Tried copying this to new thermo, so dont know if this is right!

    Cheers

    Lolly.

Nope Lolly, time for an engineer with a wiring diagram to sort it out by the sounds of it. I very much doubt that the PCB is faulty, they do fail but I’ve never sen one causing no heat, and I can’t remember ever changing a door stat in one of those machines in all the years we’ve been doing them.

    Re: ADP 8224 Dishwasher

Thanks very much for your help.

Looks like the engineer i called last week wasnt much cop.

Hmmm, looks like an Xtracare callout i suppose, but i was worried i might be wasting my time just incase he says it is the control panel, and that alone in £150ish so i wouldnt think its worth repairing.

Stupid the way these alarm codes work. When the engineer told me in the week it definitely was the thermo i thought great, plugged it all in only to get the same code. How frustrating. Mind you thats why he was only £22 call out charge i suppose. So much for me costcutting.

    Cheers for the advice

    Lolly.

Post your post code here, someone here will probably help you out, more than £22 though but maybe not as much as the other figure quoted.

    Re: ADP 8224 Dishwasher

    🙁 🙁

Well, after 2 engineers later it looks like my dishwasher has had it!

The first engineer said it was my thermostat and NOT the control panel.
Ordered the thermostat but was different to my original.
Called out Extracare engineer (£65.80), who fitted the new thermostat.

Put it on rapid wash to test and got the same fault code E3.

He said it is my control panel and there is no test for it, just to oorder the part at £156.

Alas to say, after i have spent about £120 on 2 thermostats and 2 callout charges i am gutted.

I am going to now dump it, and its a shame the control panel doesnt have its own alarm code as in knackered to save me all the time and money trying to fix the damn thing, which is only 2 years old.

Rant over….now wheres my Hammer before hubby comes home from work!

Well, well, well ! Sad tale Lolly but it seems to me you are far too free with your (pardon the pun) lolly. You should never have been charged for or indeed paid for, parts that did not cure the problem.

You called someone out to repair your machine, they in fact didn’t but did at least concluded what the problem really was in the end. You owed them at least to pay for their ‘call-out charge’ but nothing more than that. I reckon you have been stitched up!

Before you dump it, it may be worth considering the repair to be honest. As you have already paid out for some parts and the MFI engineers call out, all you will have to pay for is the part. Bear in mind the cost of a replacement fully integrated dishwasher, upwards of £500 in most cases, plus installation charges, it may be more economically viable to have the repair done.

Plus it will prove that the PCB is definitely the culprit, these are never easy to 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} diagnose, even for the most experienced engineer. If it proves to be something else, you should not be expected to pay for the PCB.

    Re: ADP 8224 Dishwasher

I am threatening to dump my ADP 8224. I keep getting error code E2 showing even though the book says that code is not used on this model. I am going to get the side fill chamber checked for muck which may be blocking it. I have also read here about reset codes, in relation to opening the door mid cycle. I do this all the time. Could this be causing the E2 code to appear? We have recently aquired this machine when buying our new house, so don’t really know much about it. 🙄

    Cheers,
    Jo.

    Re: ADP 8224 Dishwasher

    Shupa,

I remember when i first had my ADP8224 installed and i got this code. It was under warranty so called out the engineer.

Turned out that a lead had worked loose on the control module.

Have a look by taking out the 4 screws on the frame and gently prise out the top panel. But be careful it doesnt drop. It is quite easy as i have done this a few times. Check all the connections and try again. Sometimes they work loose with keep opening and closing the door.

    Good Luck!

    Lolly.

    An update on my saga!

Well, i heard from QER today and my control panel was faulty and now fixed! Only posted it yesterday morning, wow, what a fantastic service and a full years warranty.

    A big thankyou to Martin.

Hopefully will receive it back Friday, and wire it back up (following my notes i made before i disconnected it) and hope all is well.

    Thanks again Guys…..

    Lolly. 😀 😀 😀
