KeymasterWell after finally getting our new Siemens IQ washing machine delivered in
one piece, at the 4th attempt, we’ve ran into another problem! The drain
hose is to short to reach our sinks siphon. Its the bog standard 1.5m, why
they make them so short god only knows the standard length for a fill hose
seems to be 2.5m. The machine isn’t very far from the sink but the hose has
to go around a corner, and typically, its on the wrong side of the machine
so it has to go around the back of the machine as well , all this means it
doesn’t reach. Well it does reach if you stretch it but its then very
tight.Anyway anybody got any ideas? You can buy longer hoses but I can fit a new
one to the machine, so I’m thinking of extending the current one with a bit
of 21mm waste pipe, another drain hose and some jubilee clips.January 25, 2004 at 9:00 pm #108850kwatt
Keymaster🙂 All fill hoses used to be 1.5M as well as drain. There used to be great debates about the 2.5M drain hoses, which you can get quite easily, as they were often not installed properly and allowed waste water back into the appliance. This is why many manufacturers stayed away from them and took the attitude that the drain outlet to your home plumbing should be installed within reach of the services.
Personally I’ve rarely had any cause for concern with the 2.5M hoses and we used them regularly for installation work with no adverse affects.
As for jointing kits, you can get them easily enough as well but obviously they can leak and it’s just another bit to go wrong if you like. My advice would be to get an extended drain hose and do the job right first time.
Any local supplier should carry them or if you ask in here tomorrow I’m sure one of the lads will be able to help you no problem.

KeymasterRe: Drain Hose to Short
Thanks for the help. I have considered getting a longer hose, the only trouble is the drain hose disappears in to the back of the machine and as it’s brand new I don’t fancy farting around inside the machine. It’s a Siemens IQ1633GB btw.
Cheers

New versions of Siemens washers the drain hose is an interference fit with an ‘o’ ring just where it joins the back of the machine at the plastic housing, universial hoses from B&Q etc will not fit, contact Siemens spares on 08705543210 for a genuine longer hose or fit conector and extend the one allready fitted.
