ParticipantHi,
My apologies in advance for being a little long-winded here.
My 9year old Zanussi ZT 685 dishwasher is now not draining water away after a dishwash – I discovered this last night, typically just before the last Friday before Xmas 🙁
I took out the lower spray arm, the large filter and the central filter. There didn’t seem to be any debris/matter in the way, just smelly water.
The “Quick” programme light isn’t flashing fast (which according to the instructions would indicate squashed/bent drain hose). The sink isn’t blocked either.
My questions are:
1) Are there any other tests I can do (as a non-engineer)?
2) Is it a case of replacing the drain pump? Or does this model have just the one single (reversing) pump?
3) If the drain pump needs to be replaced, can anyone here tell me what the pump details might be for the ZT 685 (so I could buy it myself)? Or have a downloadable PDF manual?
4) What might it cost to have an engineer come out and replace the pump?
Thanks in advance for all useful help and advice.
Regards

Reversing motor. If you are certain that the machine is not blocked and that any coupling to the sink is clear, the impellor stack on the motor may well be damaged. Replacement is HERE.
Motor is easily removed from the rear by removing a locking bar.
Power off first.

Hi Penguin45,
Thank you very much for kindly taking the time and trouble to reply to my enquiry.
Last night I decided to do what I could from the inside: using a turkey baster, I removed as much water as possible and then dried around the assembly and left the door open overnight.
This morning I put all the filters/arms etc back and tried the ‘Rinse and hold’ cycle to check if the drain hose was blocked – it wasn’t. However, there was no undrained water!?!
I then decided to go for broke – I put in some dishwasher cleaner fluid and put the dishwasher on a full wash at 70 degrees. To my immense relief it went through the cycle and has drained properly once more.
I’m mystified as to why the dishwasher didn’t drain yesterday and now it does today. However I am well aware that the dishwasher is 9 years old so it may well be a warning indicator…
Thank you again for kindly replying, I really appreciate it.
Regards
