Hello all. A mate’s dishwasher wasn’t heating the water. Diagnosed that the thermal cut out had tripped. Replaced that, all ok. But wondering why it tripped. Today during testing, it’s obvious that the wash pump doesn’t always start, just hums. So I’m thinking if the water isn’t splashing over the element it gets too hot and trips the cut out? possible? It’s an integrated dishwasher, I’d put it back in the cabinet before noticing the stalled pump. But I think I managed to get a stumpy screwdriver onto the motor shaft which was under a rubber shroud thing? Seemed free enough, and the motor ran fine next time. So I’m wondering bit of bone/sweetcorn or cocktail stick? or capacitor on way out..? Sorry for the ramble, just wondering what you folk think.

Ha thanks Penguin, will dig out the capacitor and order a new one. It'[ll be cheap enough to try. Leaks?? Is this something the owner can look forward to??
