Changed the relay on this machine with typical ‘needs a new relay fault’ then got called back same symtoms.

Fitted second new gen relay in case of faulty batch but machine still stopping dead after varios times.

    Any clues appreciated

Burnt out timer contacts are a very likely cause.

mate had this recently when the dryer stops have you checked to see if your still getting 240v into dryer as he found the socket was faulty and overheating cutting off the dryer then cooling down and working again had it a couple of times myself and funny enough always a tdc30 type
hope this helps you out mate

Got to agree with Martin, sound like timer fault

i have had the same problem with a hotpoint tumle dryer, i replaced the relay due to the usual relay type fault, the new relay went the same way after a month, replaced the new relay and its gone again, i thought it was just a bad relay as it has the classic relay type fault it goes dead trhen if you leave it a couple of minutes you can get it to start again.
    anyway to check the timer?

sorry should have got back on this one,
Fault was a ‘crispy’ micro switch on the door.
As the dryer got hot the door opened just enough to turn off the worn door switch.
New micro switch fitted, working fine
