Hi all
Hope someone can help ith this one.
This machine won’t spin, but the drum does turn on the wash.
I have already changed the brushes (They were worn right down) & have tested the heater for earth leakage which is OK.
could it be the timer/ module unit ?
Any ideas would be very welcome
The fault is almost certainly the motor, they overheat pretty badly and whilst they indeed show worn out brushes, the armature has most likely given up the ghost! New motor is whats needed I expect.
I finaly got round to doing this machine (1st the customer went away, then I had a weekend off).
It was indeed the motor that was faulty
I replaced it last thursday & it worked a treat. The customer hasn’t got back to me, so it appears everything is fine.
One to remember for the future
Usually these motor armatures burn out if the customer has a habit of doing continual washing (no sooner has one load finished, another goes in) The motor can’t hack that type of pressure but we enjoy the consequences. More work for us…and we love it!
If it’s the ’round’ Hoover motor (as opposed to the ‘square’ Candy motor) you can buy the armature, tacho and magnet as spare parts. Nobody seems to want to stock them however. More profit in the complete motor perhaps?

Penguin.
