    Hi, was wondering if any of you guys could give me some advice on a problem im having with my Hotpoint fridge freezer model rf64p , the red light is on, the refridgerator compartment has stopped cooling, the freezer appears to be warming/defrosting. When i switch the whole thing off and back on again i get a very low humm for a few seconds then a click which seems to be coming from the thermostat in the fridge, with the power left on it repeats the humm and click every so often.

    Could this be the thermostat that is faulty? or is it likely to be something else?

    Could be the motor relay which would also give that effect,sits on the side of the motor inside a plastic housing.
    Not easy for a diy to test,possibly worth chancing a replacement as they are not too expensive.
    Unplug before checking.
