I have a Smeg DF612SE which seems completely dead. When the power switch is pressed in nothing happens, no lights, no noise, nothing at all.
I have tried the following:
Checked Socket supply
Checked fuse in plug
Checked continuity of on/off switch on front panel and this works as expected.
Checked continuity/operation of door switch – seems to operate as expected. Microswitches operate in correct manner.
Checked all leads to various PCB assemblies and switch lugs are secure.
Carried out a visual inspection of the main PCB – no signs of water ingress, scorching, or other damage. The only thing that looked slightly amiss was the large 10uF electrolytic capacitor on the main circuit board had an ever so slightly domed top. I’ve seen much worse when repairing PC Motherboards, but thought I’d mention it.
Checked that there was 240v present at the on/off switch when device plugged in.
I’m now out of ideas.
The machine is three years old, out of warranty and I could get a replacement in the sales for £279. Can anyone suggest my next course of action?
Many thanks
