lg wd1243 skipping part of the cycle

The customer has reported as follows:
When set to do a wash the time display shows the usual time duration for the selected program but after a fairly short time the display shows a greatly reduced time. Possibly there has been no heating.
From the reduced time displayed the machine carries on to the end but the clothes are not well washed.
I have checked the heater for continuity (26 ohms) the ptc measures 80 k’ohms.
This machine has the circuit board with gelled in components.
The heater wire connections at the circuit board look to be in good condition.
I have not yet had time to observe a full cycle to see about the heating stage– plan to do this but I’me wondering about the thermistor resistance.
Can any one help?
