ParticipantHi there
Have been reading all the posts about this particular dryer but haven’t found the problem I’m experiencing.
I’ve had this Candy CIC60 dryer for a few years now and recently it’s been making a loud noise everytime the drum turns. Has anyone got any idea what the probem could be and what parts I’d need/how much it would cost to fix this?
Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply.
Is there any way to check what exactly is gone, i.e. is something going to be broken or have play in it? And are there any guides on how to start disassembling it? Once I’ve got it disassembled, hopefully I’d be able to see what’s wrong? From what I’ve read, you have to diassemble everything from the front on this model.
Can all parts be bought from this website?
Can I just keep it running like this or i something gonna eventually break?
Thanks.

Hi,
Unless you can suss exactly what’s causing the noise which can, at best, be difficult without some experience, then it is not possible to check without taking things to bits in order to see what’s broken.
Guides, not a hope. 😉
You can see the drum paddles inside the drum easily enough.
Drum bearings are worth a check.
There’s two fans on the motor that look to be plastic and therefore prime suspects.
All parts we should be able to get for it, yes.
If you keep running it then yes, it will eventually just break totally, probably terminally.

ParticipantMany Thanks for the replies.
If I turn the drum using my hand, I can hear the noise when doing this. Does this point to a worn drum bearing? How easy is this to replace and are any special tools required in order to change the bearing? Should I look at changing any other parts, e.g. seals, at the same time, whilst I’ll have it all apart?
I’ve had a look on the website but can’t see many parts for the Candy CIC60 model, have you got a link to the bearing for this model’ bearing please? Thanks.

Hi Candyman,
We need the serial number as there’s at least two versions and a technical note on the rear bearing. :rolls:

ParticipantHi K.
I’ve had a look at the label on the dryer and here’s what’s displayed:
M. CIC60 01
N. 37616489 0241 1208
G. 0000
Type TCM01I assume the “M” stands for model number and the “N” for Serial Number, not sure what the others mean!
Does this shed any light on which version I have?
Thanks.

Sorry Candyman, I should have bothered to read the technical note first, my bad, but my excuse is I’m unwell this week, at least I have an excuse this week other than the usual insanity plea. 🙁
I know why we don’t list it now.
The rear bearing in no longer available as such. But it is, as part of a complete new drum!
Also there’s a raft of other parts changed as well, with the original items also NLA.
Needless to say this is ludicrously expensive and I wouldn’t advise anyone to spend well over £100 on one of these dryers so, my advice is, cut your losses and replace it as it is at least five years old, last produced in mid 2004.

Participantlol, ok no worries, hope you feel better soon.
The noise is kind of a grinding noise. I’ve read some other posts on different dryers and some people suggest that it’s either something stuck between the drum and the lining (if that makes sense!) or it could be the jockey pulley, which is still available to buy. Any idea if it’s easy to check if either of the above could be causing the problem?
Thanks.

KeymasterNa, it’s a strip it down job to pinpoint the actual cause normally. 😕
