ParticipantHi there again guys, I am afraid of my washer/dryer Hotpoint WD860P Serial No: 701160090* (*=possibly a 1 or other number)
Why am I afraid of it, you may ask, well we do not normally use the drying cycle but today due to washing freezing on the line we thought we would use it. But to our surprise for a super silent model, on our second machine load when pressing start it went with an almighty bang which tripped the circuit breakers in the fuse board. so upon trying again to the same result I opened up the machine and tried again to see a rather large Blue flash coming from I think the PCB (rather than the motor) upon trying again did not repeat the flash bang on third attempt, so rebuilt and tried dry cycle and appears not to heat any more and on wash cycle comes up with the fault code F-07, could anyone please tell me what this fault code means please.
Also I have read about some of these machines being recalled or requiring a modification is mine one of them.I would appreciate any input please, as was slightly annoyed as we had to replace our ariston margarita in 2007 due to PCB Board being up the duff and upon inspectin of this hotpoint appears to be the exact same pcb board.
Kindest regards Joel 😀tried to make my belated post a little ‘jovile’ but believe me the stress of forking out £500 is not funny.
p.s. this machine claims to include a 5 year parts warrantee but is this a warranty at no extra cost as I found a leaflet showing prices of five year parts warranty but not sure if this was extended warranty. does anyone know if these machines come with a 5 year parts warranty as standard pleaseJanuary 3, 2010 at 9:00 pm #307716Penguin45

F7 is a heater relay stuck fault. The flash bang is probably the heater exploding due to the relay on the pcb. Both will almost certainly need replacing.
There’s no such thing as a free lunch – the 5 year parts warranty will give you the parts for free as part of a fixed price call out from the Indesit Company at £105.
Hotpoint, Indesit and Ariston are all basically the same product these days – only the names and aesthetics are different.

cheers thanks again for the info, I believe last time I priced up a pcb was about £150 and heaters proberbly a few quid also, I don’t own this machine but belongs to landlord so reckon will pass the cost on. thanks again. in case I do the job myself is the pcb plug and play or is there a chip to swop over (recken there was) if only £109 to replace all parts above recken might be worth it if the parts are that much, was I mistaken about any mobs reqd????
Regards
