Pretty much decided on getting a Sebo vacuum cleaner after reading through the forums but wanted to know if anyone would recommend one type over another, upright or cylinder.
We have a mix of carpet, wood and tile floors. No pets.I know the uprights can be used on hard floors and tend to think that the powered brushes on these would be better for cleaning the carpets.
Is there anything I am missing. Should I also consider the cylinder models or does it just come down to personal preference?
My wife is dead set on an upright so would need some good reasons to change 😕Moving from our purple DC01 which seems to be giving up on the suction front now after 11+ years. Never broken down though apart from replacing a split hose 8O. Must have been lucky given what you guys say about them!

The upright machines are the best IMHO. Uprights clean carpets far better, unless you buy the cylinder with a motorised brush bar. The upright Sebo’s clean carpets an hard floors properly, so it is down to personal prefernce at the end of the day.
The best vacuums available by along way. They are far far better than Dyson.

Agreed.
The best for maximum flexibility and performance is the K3 cylinder with the motorised brush head. My own opinion is that the cylinder is simply a lot easier than an upright as well as generally more reliable IME than uprights.

Just read your review Ken. Sounds like there is not too much in it apart from cost, assuming both will be reliable. Just preference.
I’ll discuss it with the boss 🙂Is there any advantage in going for the commercial models? I see Oliver that you’ve mentioned that they might be a bit too harsh for domestic use. Do they offer any advantages? Not sure if they also have the 5 year warranty?

Do you have the X4 Extra’s in stock? Wasn’t sure when looking at the shop page message. Assume the K3’s are in stock?
Washer and dryer still doing a sterling job by the way. Only been 2 years though. Will be holding you to the next 18 😉Gary

Hi Gary,
There is no real need to buy commercial for normal domestic use. I can get them cheaper as I am in the trade, thats why I have commercial. As far as I know commercial ones do not have a 5 year warranty.
The domestic ones even come with a 12 month commercial warranty. Says how well they are built.
I usually recommend the upright models: Automatic X1.1 and X4 and they are superbly engineered machines and built to last.

I don’t know what’s out there, bar a couple of Felix machines that someone asked me something about before Christmas… I’ve totally forgotten. 😕
But I haven’t ventured into the warehouse for days, it’s too damn cold in there!
There was some of both though, the K3’s are usually there all the time and a few X Series but even if they’re not we usually get them delivered within 72 hours, most often within 48 which is our own internal target on smaller machines and spares.
Good to hear the feedback on the machines though. 😉

Just reread this thread which I notice gives a lot of the info I was after 😳Think the only thing I really need to consider is the stair cleaning but sounds like the X4 Extra would be OK with the longer included hose.

Nothing listed in the spec sheets, however this Sebo link with video clips should give you a good idea.
