    Hi everyone –

    New poster here, I hope I’m giving all the information required. I have a Bosch Classixx 1400 Express washing machine which refused to spin last night. Opened the flap on the bottom right of the unit, in order to have a go at the filter – and the filter turned about a sixth of a turn and refused to budge any further.

    Not sure what to do next – any suggestions more than welcome, with many thanks.

    (This machine is almost certainly out of warranty).

    its blocked

    the pump needs to come off… is there a sealed base on the machine?

    Thanks. The bottom of the machine is a screwed-on metal plate, if I’m understanding your question correctly. Does that help? Thanks for the prompt response.

    Thought ‘tI might attack the filter with WD40 – can’t do any harm.

    Hi

    WD40 is no good filter and housing are plastic.
    It will be something stuck in filter , so removal of pump and filter from machine is only option.

    Many thanks. Given that the filter won’t turn round, do you have any idea how I get at it?

    OK – got the thing on its side, removed the base plate and got the filter out. No sign of any blockage on the filter unfortunately; have set it on a rinse cycle and the drum is still refusing to move.

    Number on the side of the machine is WFO2866GB 00589844 9000029223 1400/min line 2.

    From other comments in here I’m guessing a blockage in the pump is more likely than the motor having a problem – is there anything I can do from here or do I need to call an engineer?

    unscrew the base of the pump
    theres on screw, then it twists off
    remove any debris thats in there

    when u put it on a spin, it does take around a minute for the motor to start.. u tend to here a click from the pcb at the top, then the motor should run

    if it clicks and doesnt, could well be worn brushes

    I’be been shopping too, hence the delay in replying. It’s almost like being a real person…

    Anyway, many thanks for that. The pump was completely clear of debris, as was the filter earlier – having eliminated those possibilities I think it’s probably time to use the ‘find an engineer’ section of this website.

    Thanks though – it’s worth knowing that I’m not throwing money at an engineer for a simple ‘take the fluff out’ operation.

    The appliance won’t spin if it doesn’t drain the water away….hence the ‘check pump filter’ advice. However , if the water has drained and the drum still doesn’t turn then the most likliehood is worn brushes in the motor . Looking at the model number , the appliance is prob between 4 and 6 years old and if you havn’t had the brushes replaced before and it gets regular use , then that would be about the right time preiod for the brushes to fail.

    Have you noticed any funny noises from it recently on the spin cycle of the wash ? Maybe a high pitched screech or ‘scraping/arcing’ noise ? This is normally a pre-cursor of brush failure.

    Oh , and one other thing before you call someone out. What did you have in the machien at the time ? It wasn’t a single large item was it ? These machines have an out of balance system built in which will stop the spin from operating if the load is unbalanced . A spin test with an empty drum should confirm whether this was the case
