    If you set this machine for a manual spin cycle it starts off on an eleven minute cycle.It will spin for 4 minutes and then go to zero and switch off.Original fault was carbons which have been replaced.I am thinking it is to do with this and the ten year old armature is heavily dished causing spikes to the control unit.Am I thinking right?

    Yup, motor generating electrical noise affecting the pcb.
