ParticipantHi, our Diplomat ADP 8233 has developed a fault.
When put on it’s normal wash cycle it fills with water but then stops. There is a grinding noise and nothing else happens. On opening the door, there is cold water in the bottom of the machine.
I have tried emptying this and different programme selects but it always ends with this rumbling/grinding noise and no washing ?
I have cleaned out the filters in the bottom. Also when progamme light is on but start button is off the machine will drain the water out itself and warm up inside.
Would apprecaite any help and suggestions, thanks Paul.

Ok I have found somebody with the same problem by using the search facility (using the correct type No. ! ). It appears it could be the circulation pump causing the fault.

You’re getting the hang of it…. Cunning title edit, I notice…. 😀
This is the article you need to read. Classic Whirlpool fault.

Did you like that edit, I couldn’t do it to the actual post though :rolls:
I read that link after coming across it in the search that I did, they are priced up here at £136 (that’s if I got the right part ), so if it’s not blocked it looks like it could be a new machine on the horizon 😥 .

It’s a one time fix. I have fitted loads of these and the new motor holds up very well. I have yet to replace one of the new type ones.
It’s not actually a bad machine if treated with a little bit of respect. Fat accumulations are bad news, so a proper pre-rinse to get the heavy stuff off is advisable.

It came with a MFI fitted kitchen around 5 years ago and has been very reliable (apart from the door handle breaking and forever coming loose!), so it may be worth a fix then. It depends on how much it would cost to fit the pump, that is unless it’s a job capable of my limited talents ?

Definately worth fixing – I’ve got the Prima variant and it’s on twice a day every day. New motor 2 years ago; machine washes as good as high end Bosch. P45 is right though; keep it clean and don’t use it as a waste disposal unit, scrape the plates off first. Mine’s a 2004 machine and works well.

Thanks for your advice Steve, I must admit to always scraping the plates and rinsing off the worse, but the wife and kids don’t ! I will obtain a quote for the repairs and go from there 😉 .
