    Hi There,

I’m looking for some guidance on how to fix my Smeg dishwasher, model DWi 45.1. It has been out of action for a few months and I am sick of manual washing now!!!!

The lights seem to work properly, none flashing and no salt warning, in simple person’s terms the problem is that no water comes through and on closing the door nothing at all happens. If anyone can help (i’m presuming my ignorance means the answer is fairly simple) it would be most appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance.

First action on closing the door should be a couple of beeps, followed by the drain pump running.#

If there are no beeps and no action, the door catch and switch would be my first port of call.

Power off if you intend to solve this yourself.

Drain pump running generally makes a “shuffa-shuffa” sort of noise. If the the pump were jammed you would hear a faint hummimg noise. After the initial drain, you should get fill, followed by circulation.

Assuming that the drain pump is working, next step is water. Tap on (obvious – check) kinked, nipped or trapped drain hose (pretty easy to spot) or valve failure. At this point, you need a test meter and the nouse to use it. With the power off and the valve disconnected, you should get a reading of around 3.5kOhms across the terminals.
