    Hi

Just purchased a Bosch SRS45E38GB to replace my old Zanussi dishwasher and am a bit miffed with regard to installation. The instructions show two methods.. either to install the dishwasher as it is if it’s going to be freestanding.. or if fitting under a worktop to take off the top of the dishwasher and then remove a moulded plastic container from inside which appears to be filled with crystals (maybe for absorbing condensation??) then install with the lid off under the worktop

    My questions are

    1) Does this container need to come out anyway.. is it just for transportation?
    2) If it is functional can it stay put if fitting the dishwasher under a worktop with the lid in place.. will this do any harm etc?
    3) Why has it got to be taken out if fitting with the lid off?

    Cheers Andy 🙂

the plastic container is filled with stones/gravel/pebbles. It is used as a counterbalance to counteract the added weight for when the door is open and a full bottom tray is pulled out. If installed under a worktop where there is no movement i.e the dishwasher is tight to a worktop and can’t tip forwards, the weighted container isn’t required as much .

    Ahh that makes sense!

Many thanks for the quick reply 😀
