    Hi, Need HELP !

We have a 4 year old Whirlpool ADG7550, about 1 min into any cycle, the machine starts to fill, then stops and the “start” button flashes and beeps continuously. DRIVING ME MAD ! Have cleaned the inside bits (filter, arms etc, but haven’t done anything “Techincal” yet, any ideas?

Constant flashing is F1 – temperature sensor fault. You will almost certainly need one of THESE.

If your kitchen is exceptionally cold, the sensor is possibly out of range. Try pouring a pint of warm water into the sump a few minutes before setting the machine off.

Poured some warm water into it before starting and works a treat again.

Thanks Penguin, your a star ! Saves me washing up!

    Another question ?

    a. Whats a “NTC (feeler) device” then ?

    b. The machine is making a knocking/banking noise right at the bottom of the machine, in the “workings” of it. When you take the kitchen kick board off you can feel the vibration of the knocking on the bottom of the machine. The noise is in a rhythm, as if a belt or something has fallen off. Any ideas ?

NTC thermistor – negative thermal co-efficient. The hotter it gets, the lower the resistance. PCB will have a comparative resistor array to represent the different operating temperatures of the machine. The processor matches the values to decide what temperature it’s at. The catch is that the operating range may not include extreme low temperature = fault.

Knocking noises are usually cock-eyed rotors – check that the tip jets are clear. The other cause of noises is the circulation motor – article HERE will explain.
