Hi, I have an Indesit IDL 40, which has started failing mid cycle, and flashing an error code. It’s lights two (wash) and four (dry) which are flashing. The cycle doesn’t seem to finish, and the machine is VERY hot when opened.

    Any ideas please?

    Serial number is 704238244
    COD 64406850000

    Approx 18 – 24 months old

    Many thanks!

    Its lasted that long, :rolls:

Is the full model number IDL40UK or IDL40UK.C ?

These are known to suffer faults in the heater side of the machine. Strangely 2+4 flashing is supposed to indicate that it is not heating. 😕

As yours has the slightly more reliable element that is visible in the drum, does the machine appear to have enough water in it and are both of the arms circulating freely ( the only way to find that out does involve getting a little wet I’m afraid).

The electronics are woefully inadequate and do cause endless problems on these machines.

Hi, many thanks for the reply.

I actually read through some previous threads, and decided to take the front cover off. Sure enough the temperature sensor was hanging loose, so I reattached it to the back of the dispensor unit. Have just run a cycle, with no problems!

Saved getting wet too … almost …. I didn’t attach the drain properly, so got a bit of a soaking floor until I spotted it!

    Thanks again
    Ian
