Clobbered again! This is the newer type bosch d/w the one with the daft round flow meter that is attatched to the i/let valve via a 3″ long pipe,ie doesn`t have the “usual” p/swt m/swt unit, but does have a m/swt and red emergency float -Fault is,will fill with h2o but wash motor does not come on as it fills so not drawing the h2o around so keeps filling up untill red o/flow float is triggered and therefore m/ch pumps out.wash motor not siezed and reads through with meter using the capacitor wires to the 3 wires tags on actual motor ,presume it is a pcb at fault and if so does this board have to be configured or is it a straight swop over?M/ch less than 3 years` old and used once a week on Sundays only-and judging by the lack of any grunge i agree; no sign whatsoever of a base leak ever.Any ideas please? Thanks.

    Hi

Most likely the hose from fill matrix to sump blocked causing water to back up. Clean out that hose and machine should work OK.

Thanks i know about the matrix to sump hose that gets blocked up but this hose is spotless i`m afraid, would`ve been nice if it had been this as i was hoping ,sadly it isn`t this problem.

If it fills pumps fills pumps continuously and the tap LED comes on 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it’ll be the flow rate meter ( Impellor jug ) part No 424099

Explaination – If the flow rate meter fails , the module recieves a false or no signal from the flow meter. It just keeps letting the water in until the water level reaches too high a level at which point it operates the flood protection red float…..a small amount of water gets pumped out…level drops as does the red float…..water starts being let in again….and so the cycle continues….over and over again . The motor doesn’t fire up because the module doesn’t think its let enough water into the machine yet.

    Its quite a common fault.

Just out of curiosity, how do you change this flow meter? Not had to do one yet but every time i see one i think that sucker looks awkward and inaccessable. Do you have to lift the back of the cabinet or something?

    Thanks

    Easy enough subs.

    LHS panel off
Disconnect inlet hose from bottom of matrix
At rear , inlet valve unclips from lower rear panel
    Slowly ease out valve
Disconnect valve cables and impellor jug connector
You now have the valve , small connection hose , impellor jug and longer hose all out of the machine.

To be honest , the most difficult thing is getting the hoses off the impellor jug. They can be pretty tight. .

Fitting is the reverse…..although it is both important to ensure the flow rate meter is fitted in the correct direction and when fed back into the machine it is kept as vertical as possible.

As Alexander Meerkat might say….”simples” 🙂

Subs , i hope you don’t think i was gloating when i posted that. The easy/simples quip was more to the fact that you asked whether you had to lift the back off the tub. Compared to that , the impellor jug replacement will seem the easy option 😀

Thanks to all-yes it was the filljug meter thing that was u/s-so problem now sorted out.Took the old part to pieces ,no that there is much to it,God knows what was wrong with it as the vains went round and that pull out terminal block sensor measured through-weird,but that`s domestic appliances for you.!!

    It’s a reed switch.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reed_switch
Every time the magnet passes it, it opens. The pcb counts the pulses.(Or something like that.) Imagine how many times that switch moves in a year. It’s not surprising they go wrong. (There again, sometimes it’s just the connector.)
    Mike.
