LG “American style” Fridge-freezer

Model GR-L 2073ER built July 2003.

The machine came with the flat and functioned perfectly for over a year. Now the fridge temperature control alters itself, the indicator lights change and the audible “ping-pong” warning sounds each time. This can persist for hours but sometimes, the fault ceases for days or even weeks – always to return. Unplugging and re-connecting is supposed to re-set the control but this is not always effective.

The temperature setting of the freezer section remains stable.

Yesterday local technician ran the specified checks on the control unit and told us that he can find no fault. A new unit, he says, would cost us about 120 euros plus fitting and as he has found no fault in that area, would not assure us of a cure.

There must be something wrong and we would be most grateful for advice.

We have found that it is cheaper to by the filter cartridges for this machine from the UK and guess that that might also apply to any spares required.
