I have an electric cooker that the customer (letting agent tennant) says that cooking on the solid hob plates seems to take longer than before “its very slow”. If i put any of the hobs on full they get very hot but how do i know if they are hot enough? Now the selector switches go up to 6 which means there is 3 elements within each hot plate and 4 tags from them. If all the hot plate connectors have continuaty then could it be the selector switch not switching all 3 elements on in parallel within the plate when its on full? How do i know for sure the plates are getting hot enough or not?
why dont you test each of the element tappings ie- one of the 4 tags is a netural and the 3 are positive or (visa versa) as you say set to No6. there will be 240v between the neg and each of the tappings.
if that proves ok you may have to use a amp meter to test the current being used. (ie same as the element thats working ok )
