Been busy myself since July,never do weekends bar an occasional Saturday,need to put the feet up nowadays.

I’m not as busy, getting more price enquiries, even had a hoover tumble dry belt broken quoted £45 supplied and fitted, customer responded it was too expensive and she’d buy a new one instead. :rolls:
I gave around 8 quotes all under £50 last week and they never returned to me for repair, so either some cowboy is in the area or people are buy replacements.
Competitors are starting to lower their prices, a few have come down too my callout charge and they seem to have increased there advertising presence.

lee get in bed with a local retailer of new goods.
if you get to an appliance and find that its gonna go over your initail quote you can then offer the customer the option of getting xyz appliance of abc company for £987 without a call out cost if she orders it from you. you then process the order with the local retailer and get an agreed kick back from it. this is obv assuming you havent got access to new appliance directly?
have found if customer if offered the call out to be written off with a new appliance sourced by you theyre more inclined to go ahead with the repair because it becomes a shot to nothing. too many customers are shying away for a £50 or £60 diagnosis of bad news, esp where really theyre just after confirmation they have a lump of scrap.
