I have read in earlier posts about the red button trip on this thermostat below the heating element.

Everytime I wish to use the machine I have to press the red button (switched off at the mains of course) and the machine then washes through the full cycle without resulting error codes.

Can I assume that the thermostat is faulty and requires replacing? If so, how easy is it to replace ssme?

The safety thermostat is doing it’s job. The machine is probably underfilling. There are three black hoses running side to side across the bottom of the machine and they fill up with sludge. You will need to remove the water matrix from the left hand side of the machine fopr full access.

Clean out hoses and the spigots which they fit to and it’ll *probably* be fine.

    Power off first, of course.

Many thanks for your very prompt and helpful reply.

I recently purchased a Control Panel and on/off switch from UK Whitegoods for this machine and found the fitting quite easy. I guess I may have a problem in accessing and removing the water matrix on the left hand side of the machine without lifting floor tiles to remove the machine from below the worktop.

You suggest that it could be sludge in the three black hoses in the base of the machine. This seems quite pausible as the machine has stood idle for over 12 months.

I wonder if a ‘sink unblocker’ type liquid would help in this situation to loosen and remove the sludge? Could such a remedy cause damage?

    What do you think?

    Kind regards,

    I think that you should:

    1/ Shoot your kitchen fitters.
2/ Not use any “unblocker” product. They all contain bleach, which will foam like crazy. Also, there is no circulation through those bottom hoses, so the product simply wouldn’t get where it’s needed.

Strip down and clean is the only proper way.

Is there no adjustment on the feet? They usually have a quite long travel.
