ParticipantHas anybody else seen the instrutional video on the Espares site? I wish the Door Seal on an AEG was that easy to change, I would’nt have lost so many sockets trying to wedge the spring in while I try to fit the rest round the seal. How did he get the retaining wire round the dryer duct, how did he replace that unrefittable clip round the jet hose.

I still can’t understand why he needs two sets of hands to hold back seal or fit retaining band,it only takes a few seconds to fit them!It only takes the length of his video to take the old seal off and fit the new one and with knuckles intact. 8) what does get under my skin is that there is only the mention of unplug before use,a reason they might need an experienced so called washing machine engineer is that we would visually and electricaly test with megger, e.l.i.t or pat test before and after to ensure the customers safety a small price to pay!,i’m off to dark corner now 😕

Ive had a few punters who watched that video and thought they would have a go themslves.Needless to say after trying for the weekend to fit it they called me.
Looks like a nice bit of editing on the tricky parts if you ask me. 😉February 2, 2010 at 7:29 pm #310233Madmac

What’s the point of them pretending the job is a piece of p*ss ❓ Well, the desire to make money of course, but disgruntled punters can quite simply ask for a refund under the distance selling regs 😕

There are so many errors on This eSparers video tutorial that it makes for good viewing in order to spot them all. 😀

Yes but in reality if they can’t fit it then they’re not going to send it back, they’re going to call one of us out to do the job. eSpares know this so can put up videos saying this is so easy without really caring – whether they can fit it or not, people still NEED their washing machine fixed.
To be honest it doesn’t bother me, I get paid to fit the part, don’t have the go to the bother of ordering in spares plus best of all if the part goes wrong it’s not my problem. In reality though when I explain to people how little a repair costs when you’re paying trade+25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} for parts instead of retail, they never go back to spares sites – especially after wasting a couple of hours skinning their knuckles trying to get an “impossible” retaining band on 😉

I’ve yet to have a call by an E Spare customer to fit a part they could not manage, so no different to the old days when the local appliance shop would sell the parts, there all gone now, so E Spares just filling in the gap.
As for the 2nd comment regarding the safety testing, well I hear as many peeps being killed by there appliances as I get referrals from E Spare customers.
Both insignificant.

Here’s a bit more interesting(?) stuff regarding Esparse for your delectation.
I just had a quick google of 1100991130 (AEG EWM2000 board) this morning to check on-line retail price before quoting customer.
I was looking to beat Lux’s own £116 incl vat and delivery (retail).
Two links in english on first page:
http://www.espares.co.uk/part/washing-machines/aeg/p/1085/143/0/0/552777/washing-machine-control-m.html
£138.99, might be extra for delivery? Although, if customer thought to look for Lux site they should subsequently get some money back on price match. Also, in the Q&A section below description :“Q Does this module require any additional software/download(s)/programming for it to work? Or is it a straightforward replacement? Thanks.by Anonymous – 24 March 2011

AHello there, I can confirm that this control module is pre-programmed.
by Rory eSpares Staff – 30 March 2011″
The other link which I found from my Google search, which is rather a long read but not less interesting than many of the discussions some of you guys engage in with the public on this site:
http://www.justanswer.com/uk-appliance/4z58t-hi-i-age-washingmachine-stopt-running-no-error.html
To cut a long story short: Customer buys new board as his own is burnt up. Installs board once, E90, re-installs old board, no error but no action, installs new one again, E90. Goes through long discussion with expert for £7 on justanswer.com. Long-winded model no. discussion etc. Conclusion is board needs programming and no pre-programmed board available. By this time the poor sod’s had the board in and out about 6 times and must be literally pulling his hair out.
To the expert’s credit, he stuck with it and tried to help the guy and the discussion was concluded in only two hours from start to finish.
I wonder if Esparse gave him any money back and what they did with the old board if so?
Hmm. Should I e-mail them and offer a fiver for it incl. P&P?

I ordered a Whirlpool t/d roller shaft from espares, and it took 3 weeks to come as it was backordered. Connect were out of stock as well, but espares were cheaper. I received it today and on the packet it said ‘In case of non delivery, please return to Connect Distribution Ltd’So I would assume espares is now owned by Connect.
