    Hi All

    OK where to start..

Wife tries to start a proghram the other day but no go. Machine still had sump full of grotty water.Eventually found the manual and dismantled filters etc.. no joy. At this point I noted that the LED array seemed to indicate ‘Appliance Not able to pump water out of tank’.

Drained the machine using gravity and tried again. Eventually after some program aborts I got it to start but now it just shows the program LED steady plus the first phase LED flashing. The unit does start to fill but there are no motor noises..

I press the abort keys (first two program keys together) it beeps and then the last three phase LEDS are on steady.

Press abort keys again (for fun) and now the first three program LEDS are on and the first phase LED is flashing.

Crikey !! Any ideas where to start..

Re: SMEG DWF409 – Hmmm UPDATE

Ok So I started to undo some screws and got access to the drain pump at the front under the plinth.

Managed to get it out (broke a lug in the process – grrr) and accidentally
pulled two connections from what I think is the water softener. One has two white wires and one has a single orange wire. Trouble is I don’t know
which connects on top spade and which on bottom spade…

    .. anyone ?

Anyway found a cocktail stick in the pump impeller… so maybe just maybe there’s progress.

    Cheers

    James

PS ‘voltstick’ shows orange is live when power is on. Since connectors are not polarised could this simply be a switch and thus not important which goes where ? Just a thought..

Ok well looks like the broken cocktail stick was the culprit – who’d have thought..

BTW I guessed at the connections back to the softener and nothing went pop. Ran a prewash for a test and all seemed to go Ok. So fingers crossed.

Just thought I would post the result for future reference..

    Cheers

    James
