    I need some help please:

My Bosch SGS45E08GB/45 dishwasher seems to be working okay (it is washing) but it does not switch off and the end (timer display reaches zero). When I open the door the machine still appears to be doing some sort of rinse as there is still water going through it. The contents is clean but obviously wet.

    Any ideas ?

Hot or cold water? Do you mean that it’s still circulating through the rotors?

I had the exact same model number of Bosch dishwasher. I never had any problems with it. However, in November 2009, it caught fire and gutted my kitchen. The production number (after the model number) was FD8403. I’m not saying your dishwasher is about to burst into flames, but I’d be suspicious of any of the electrics/electronics starting to fail.

In January 2009, Bosch, in the USA, recalled 100,000 dishwashers because of a fire hazard. See this US government website: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09100.html. I’ve been told that my production number doesn’t tie with the American ones as my dishwasher was made in the EU.

Your hyperlink is throwing up a 404 error 😉

Sorry, just noticed that the Forum counts the full-stop at the end of the address as part of the hyperlink. That’s causing the error message. My fault for typing in sentences. Here it is again, on it’s own line, without a full-stop at the end.

It works fine in the preview.

ABC123’s post is off topic to the original posters problem. If he wishes to start a thread and discuss the issue, please feel free to do so.

In the meantime, responses to Drakesters problem would be appreciated.

The point of my post was to warn Drakester that even Bosch dishwashers can go on fire, specifically the control unit (very likely the source of the problem in his original post, and the detail behind the US recall). If he has the same production number as mine, I’d advise he gets rid of it.

    Others can suggest a repair.

The most common cause of the cycle going beyond its allocated time is low water levels causing a no-heat fault.

Does it make any ‘knocking/klerdunking’ noise on initial fill ? When its up and running , how much water is there in the bottom of the tub ? It should just about cover the whole of the base and reach the bottom edge of the salt pot lid.

If it’s not heating or the water level is too low , search for ‘Bosch+not heating’ using the search facility as there is plenty of good info and advice on other threads .

    Hope this helps

Get out of this thread. If you wish to start a topic about American-built Bosch appliances, please do so. Your comments have no relevance to this posters problem.

If moderators don’t take time to actually read posts, what chance of any sense prevailing?

This is a perfectly rude forum – I’ll not be using it.

    Good luck Drakester.

They did. The US recall has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic which is all that was pointed out and you have taken that to be rudeness in some way which I don’t quite understand how you arrived at.

There’s recalls all over the world on products, just look at the news on this site, but they often have little, if anything at all, to do with UK models.

To complete the story, Bosch have now issued a UK recall, hopefully for different reasons to their US recall.

I’d love to know how many house fires it takes before a recall is done.
