    Re: broadband

Tiscali are very cheap and reliable ISP’s in mainland UK. Here in NI BT rule.

11Mbs is 802.11b and in real world terms about 6Mbs in a reasonable range.

54Mbs is 802.11g and is better but still not perfect.

Both are very useful for specific tasks, neither is secure. If you want security get wires, there is no substitute for security and performance. Basically the difference is in the speed that the wireless protocal transmits the data, the more Mbs the faster it is.

As for broadband providers, look at http://www.adslguide.org.uk for the layest and greatest, but either Zen or Eclipse seem to be the best choice right now.

LOL,m my two pet hates are Macs and PDA’s and don’t get me started on a rant about either. 😉

But yes, broadband has almsot landed and I should be on broadband both at home and work by the end of the month, 24th is the date for installation that I have for the business. Saving me about £100 a month!!!

I can definitely recommecd Eclipse, I had it installed at home last month and compared to the BT broadband connection at the office the Eclipse connection is by far the faster and more reliable.

Zen, I don’t know about, and I don’t know anyone who uses it either so I can’t make a comparison.
