I have a integrated Neff S5443x2GB/42 dishwasher ID 8304 970364, the problem is that the lower spray arm will not rotate during a wash cycle, this leaves the lower basket with partially dirty items, the machine fills, heats up, drains and completes cycle.

The folllowing have been checked and where needed cleaned:
Spray arms and pipework checked for blockages and free rotation.
Pressure chamber, clogged in top left around red valve now clean.
Water level regulator checked no build up.
All hoses removed and cleaned through.
All filters etc checked and cleaned.

I have come to the conclusion that the fault lies with the diverter valve/solenoid fitted in the heater assembly thats switches the water between the top and bottom spray arms. I cannot hear the water being switched between the two spray arms.

Before I go to the expense of changing the heater assembly with all the hassle of complete disassembly does anyone agree with my thoughts on this?

    Many thanks in advance.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Possible that it’s blocked or eaten something which has disagreed with it, but I’ve never seen it. P/no 491756 is the latest version.

If you haven’t tried working on one of these before, allow Sunday to do it as it’s a complete cow of a job. Tork TX20 tool os essential.

    Penguin45,

thanks for the quick reply just a quick question, the diverter motor looks as if it just held in by a couple of screws, if it is a case of the shaft being rounded off or similar – is it possible to replace just that component or is it the complete heater assy?
and no I’ve never taken a dishwasher apart this far before.

    Thanks.

Motor is driving a gear train – unfortunately any component could have failed. BSH only supply the heater assembly, I’m afraid.

We’ve got the exact same model, about 6 or so years old now. I went through the same diagnosis as you and ended up at the diverter valve about a month ago.

Our fault was the spindle on the cog that spins the circular diverter disc had rounded off, it would turn part of the way, and we got erratic behaviour, sometimes only the top arm would rotate then the bottom.

Unfortunately, you can’t get just the diverter parts, you have to buy the whole heater unit – about £73 from BSH/Neff/Bosch.

    As Penguin45 says – it’s a so and so of a job.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Penguin, Starman,

I thought I’d post an update,

the machine has been stripped down, must say easier than I thought – you just need to be methodical! and the fault was the diverter assembly, the shaft from the last gear wheel into the diverter disc itself has sheared off at the disc.

i can only assume that the disc has got stuck at some point, although there is no evidence to support this – anyway new part ordered – must be the most expensive plastic shaft breakage ever.

Thanks for all your help Penguin.
