I clocked the conversation in IRC about LGH setting up a network and obviously I’m interested in what the fook is going on but this is only the second instance I’ve heard of. 😕

Anyone got more info and can we use the ND info to push it along in all the right places? 😉

Big brother is watching and if it’s not him it’s me or Whirlpool! 😉 😆

TBH I was gonna mention it anyway due to a conversation I had on Friday afternoon, but with all that was going on it slipped my mind. Which I know is not unusual before you start on me. 😉

Waiting to hear back from Graham Mottershead. He tried to reach me on Friday & I was out, so I’ve left a positive message on his voice mail.

When I find out more I will post it up.

    update 11.10 a.m.

Graham Mottershead called me back. He tells me London General are looking at utilising the Indepandent repair agents, rather than Manufacturers. I know they have been talking to CDSL, but It is good to hear they are looking further afield.

At the moment he is reluctant to make it too public as he doesn’t want some manufacturers to know about this. Therefore I’m not putting anything related to this on a public/trade forum.

I have told him about this site & he says he will get registered and he may put up a posting. He has to go back to the powers that be.

I’m expecting an e-mail & when I do I will forward his e-mail address to Ken.

    Re: LGH

This may tie in with a call I recieved last week from Care 4.

They phoned and asked us to do a gas cooker call that had been passed elswhere and the customer has recieved no contact in 5 weeks 😮

It turns out that it is a cooker under the CRS LGH policy and the call was originally passed to JTM who apparently have no gas cover here.

Yes we need to get onto this bandwagon.

Graham was asking our rates as he wants to see what the general picture is and what they can sustain.

You may recall how we done the MFI one where they wanted agents but didn’t want it to be known, I think we should take the same route. What I’ve done is put Graham in the frame by giving him the site details, if we can we need to convince him to take the same tack as Tony Brown did, if so we are getting there. The great thing is, he has a rapport with MFI so I’m sure they will endorse us as being discreet and reliable, plus the fact it worked for MFI.

I will speak to Graham tomorrow and see if he has looked at the site, I will ask him if he would consider following the MFI route on the site.

    You never know.

I agree this would definately be the preffered route for everyone I feel as well and probably be a better way to go about things for LGH as well.

A couple of little points though…

What if it’s MFI they want out the loop?! 😯

LGH have been notorious for not paying up with stupid reasons given for rejections.

The other thing is that they will not accept faxed or emails for estimates which is bloody strange, but it’s hard to keep records of phone calls.

Just based on past experience etc.

    Re: LGH

Had thought of MFI but the rate and discount isn’t as bad as manufacturers. I don’t think they could make a saving there. Even if there is a risk, we may as well stay on their side unless of course they think they can trim that account.

Reading between the lines I think they are looking at S.F. Hotpoint/Merloni over 5 years and Hoover/Candy etc. All these were suggested in the phone call. He did mention the cost of spares in some cases.

D&G tried it once with Hotpoint but then GDA then refused to sell or endorse D&G policies unless they had the work. Some of us lost a chunk of work as a result.

    Re: LGH

I realy dont think that our labour rate is the main issue. the real problem is centralised spares sourcing at the right price. We are all aware that the biggest part of the bill to insurance company’s are spares used on the job’s. That’s why insurance company’s like boxed prices. As individuals it’s almost impossible to cover the risk at the prices we have to pay for spares. If we had a way of paying the same price as the likes as connect we could wipe the floor with any network in the U.K. The other main sticking point is communicating with the work supplier, almost in real time. I know Ken is working on this one and several networks are already showing an interest in his idea’s. Is it time to form our own network from within the War Room to solve these problems and get the package up and running and saleable. We have to be able to compete with the likes of cdsl and nesn. luckily that isnt a problem but the one thing that they beat us on is selling ourselves.
    Just Thinkin out loud.

    Re: LGH

He phoned this morning, and I managed to get him just before midday. I suggested he contact ken at uk whitegoods who would be able to provide a one stop shop but,
He gave the impression of being very reticent of contacting organisations saying that they(AON GROUP) wanted to form thier own network of independant agents.
I think its a fishing exercise at the moment just to see how many of us bite. He did say he had spoken to about 20 agents so far and that he was approaching DASA members first, so expect a call in the next couple of day’s lads.
He said that AON group were associate members OF DASA, i’m not too sure about that, but you dont argue with a gift horse.
He also said that they had just done somthing similar with browngoods and said that it appeared to be working quite well. Tried to get k on the phone about miday to report back but could’nt get through I think his phone line was at melting point 😆

    Re: LGH

Yep, Mr. Mottershead phoned me today as well. At the moment just the general questions about postcode coverage and how much we charge for the various appliances etc.

I mentioned to Ken earlier that apart from MFI they are also the main underwriters for Whirlpool, let’s see what happens eh 😉

    Dave.
