Hi, how much do you charge (in {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) for a repair on an additional machine at the same house?
Say I have a double call today, my rate is £40 call out but 2 machines to repair, do any of you give a lower rate for the 2nd machine? Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

We charge 1/2 rate (£20 in you’re case) as long as both appliances can be repaired on the first visit, otherwise if a return visit is required for either machine, the full charge applies for both.

We play that one by ear to an extent as it depends on the appliance, if it’s a two minute job, travelling etc, etc.

Generally though we will charge a nominal fee for it, usually a 1/2 call.

We charge £40 for the first 30mins on site the £7.50 each additional 15mins all plus VAT irrespective of the amount of appliances fixed during that time. Much fairer to your customer that way don’t you think?

(e.g. Suppose you call to replace the Motor Brushes on a W/M and the customer asked you to fix the broken Door Handle on her dryer whilst your there. Surely you wouldn’t charge another £20 or would you?)

    Simply, yes.

But then if it’s a “look see” type thing we don’t charge at all most times, I leave it to the discretion of the engineer for that generally as they have a better idea of a fair price for what’s been done.

Thanks for the replies so far, I forgot to ask if the double job was from a work provider, which is the case here, would you charge the same?

For warranty calls, yes I do as the rate is already discounted to the client anyway so, IMO, they can hardly expect a further discount.

If I was charging what I charge to the customer direct I may feel differently but it’s not, so I don’t. 😉

Yes. Don’t forget you are now exposed to two possible recalls under your warranty on the repairs. You need to have something in the bank to defray the cost of the possible recalls.

Good point shane hadn’t thought of that! On the odd occasion I have even done 3 seperate appliances on the same call. Hummm, something to consider…????

    Thanks for the input.

You Have to charge for the second appliance otherwise all those old busted spindriers, microwaves and creda 75 tumble driers get dragged out of the garage for you.
