Machine is noisy which I’ve traced to a cracked fan. There is also another possible problem to which I can’t see an obvious solution. One end of the brush roll has about 1/2″ up and down play whilst the other seems secure. I think the correct position is the upwards end of the movement range. There are screws through the ends of the roller, presumably to adjust its contact with the floor. These screws don’t seem to engage with anything in the sole plate though so I don’t know how this setup works. The insecure end looks just the same as the secure end except there is slight play in the square plastic end of the roller in its corresponding slot in the sole plate.
