Hello there, new to the forum so please be patient with me if i seem a little clueless. I have an Indesit WIL 123S washing machine, and as per usual, two days after the warranty has expired, the machine has developed a fault.

When i switch it on at the wall socket a series of LED’s continually flash, quite rapidly and all at the same time. The red LED for the door lock is constantly flashing and very quickly. All the LED’s on the function buttons, four green LED’s adjacent to the door lock LED, are continually flashing, all at the same time and very quickly. Also the spin cycle symbol LED (green) is flashing exactly the same as all the others ( this is the bottom LED or fourth down on the cycle buttons), it also has 9h printed next to it on the panel as well as the spin cycle logo.

So to confirm, the door lock LED (red), all four function LED’s (green) across the top of the panel and the spin cycle LED (green) are all flashing constantly and very quickly. I hope you can help me in my hour of need, thanks in advance, Chris. 😕

Classic computer board failure. I’d move on, just out of warranty or not.

Thank you very much for the reply. I guess it’s knackered then mate? Is the computer board too expensive then? Sorry to be a pain, could you recommend a good washing machine please? Would prefer some advice from someone who is highly knowledgeable in this field, as opposed to some salesman from Currys! Also, could you possibly recommend a good supplier? Thanks again for your reply, and your time. Chris.

Re: Indesit WIL123S Fault- Flashing LED’s

Sad as it may seem, this is usual for Indesit group stuff (Indesit, Ariston, Hotpoint). I see this regularly and my customers are just as disappointed. So much for the ‘green’ credentials the manufacturers blab at every available opportunity. “A” rated – the supposed holy grail of the domestic appliance world – yet on the landfill inside 3 years; sorry, don’t see the “green” in that……. 😕

See if your Indesit is covered by a 5 year parts warranty, some late machines were… it’ll cost you £104 to get the repair but it is the cheapest way out of the crisis. But be aware you are just patching up a poor product.
The better option is to quit while you’re ahead and buy something better as P45 rightly says. A washer drier is a bad choice for a family as it is worked much harder than a separate washer and drier. All the main parts are used for washing and drying so the mileage soon mounts up leading to early failure. Buy 2 separate machines if at all possible. Better choices are Bosch / Siemens / Miele or the ISE machines. Quite a bit more expensive but you won’t be posting on here again for a long time. (It has to be said that Miele are great machines but their spares pricing can be horrifying).

    Hope that helps,

    A.

Thanks for the reply. Will look at getting a new machine on the weekend then. No point in throwing good money after bad. I think there’s a seller called Enterprise 2000 in the Swansea Enterprise Park, i’ll have a look there and see if they have any Bosch, Siemens or ISE machines. Thanks again to all who have helped, it is much appreciated.

I’ve just looked online and found a Bosch WAE24164GB on White Goods Deals. It looks good to me and is £308 with a 2 year manufacturer warranty and if i order through their link from Dixons then i get it cheaper than if i ordered direct from them! Thanks again guys.

Re: Indesit WIL123S Fault- Flashing LED’s

I know i could be clutching at straws here, but the fault symptoms have just changed on my washer. I now have the door lock LED flashing rapidly and constantly and the delay timer LED ( the first LED from the left) and the extra rinse LED ( the fourth LED from the left ). The first and last function LED’s. Is this still indicative of a computer board fault?

Have ordered the new Bosch washer anyway, just curious what the issue is and if it is in anyway salvageable? Thanks again, Chris.

Unfortunately 1 + 4 is supposed to indicate an eeprom set up error, the chip on the board that stores the program set for the machine is corrupted.
